- Why it works for AV
- Outside teams work here in practice — get the terms in writing before you contract.
- Event spaces
- UMC ballrooms, Folsom Field club levels
- Capacity notes
- - UMC manages most general campus event spaces; single point of contact for the majority
- Glenn Miller Ballroom: ~9,700 sq ft, seats 500 in rounds, 1,000 theater style
- Other UMC-managed spaces:
- Outdoor tent (approx. 100x60 ft) on south patio
- Academic classrooms (bookable 3 weeks into semester, before 5pm)
- Multi-purpose rooms
- Spaces NOT managed by UMC (separate contacts required):
- Fiske Planetarium
- CU Event Center (basketball/volleyball arena)
- Folsom Field (Athletics Dept., facility rentals for outdoor fields)
- Wolf Law building
- Rec Center (limited/no outside access)
- Alumni Center (manages own bookings)
- Willville conference spaces (run by CU Conference Services)
- UMC recommended as primary directory entry; they can redirect to other spaces as needed
- Outside AV / production
- - Outside production companies fully welcome, no outside vendor fees, no insurance minimums - One in-house AV tech required on-site for the duration: $26.75/hr flat rate - In-house AV is basic: single Logitech camera, 7,500-lumen projectors, wireless uplighting, stage lighting - Student orgs Program Council and Buff Vision have additional equipment available - Load-in/out handled within rental window; early access available at an hourly fee - Parking is the main logistical challenge: coordinate directly with CU Parking Services - Special effects (e.g., fog) require advance notice due to smoke detectors
- Catering
- Catering: in-house required for all major indoor spaces (UMC ballroom, Willville rooms) - No food and beverage minimums - High-quality chefs, competitive pricing - Outdoor or smaller spaces may have different rules
- Lodging
- On-site. Lodging: handled by CU Conference Services (CUCS), not UMC
- Available only when school is not in session (summers)
- Most residence halls have no AC
- Contact CUCS directly for large conference lodging needs
- Production notes
- Institutional but genuinely capable, and the right fit for academic audiences.
